About Me

Daily I hear someone complain about pain, swelling, arthritis, or other auto immune diseases that cause suffering. I was one of those people. Yes you heard me right when I said “WAS”. In 2004, I hurt my shoulder teaching little girls how to do cartwheels. I do realize that I was almost forty and perhaps some might say…OK some did say that I had no business doing cartwheels. I began physical therapy and when the pain did not subside my physical therapist recommended that I see a rheumatologist who confirmed that I had RA. It was a bitter sweet revelation for me. Bitter because Rheumatoid Arthritis is a crippling disease. Sweet because now I knew what was attacking my body and I could begin to get help.

The last seven years have been a long journey with pain and the challenges of experimenting with different medications. In October of 2008, I realized how tired I was of hurting. I decided to go to the library and research my disease. I returned home with a stack of books discussing Auto Immune Diseases and Inflammatory Diseases. The common thread that I found appealing in most of the books was diet related.

I completely changed my diet to an anti-inflammatory way of eating.  My pain and inflammation have subsided.  At this point in my life I realize how very important diet is in helping the body function properly. My hope on this blog is to share with you anti-inflammatory recipes with hope that you too can find some relief in your pain and suffering or to even prevent getting to the point of dealing with disease.

Time with family and friends is so important to me and fabulous food and drinks are almost always involved.  I am pleased to say that I have found by eating right I am not missing out on anything. Now I enjoy even better tasting food that actually fuels the body instead of tearing it down.  I offer hope and encouragement in eating a healthy diet that contributes to lowering inflammation.

I am so thankful to God for leading me to this place in my life.  No matter what the circumstances have been or may be I always know that “with God all things are possible.”  Matthew 19:26
